Saluda, SC – Mr. George Lansing Carpenter III, 63, entered into rest Thursday, November 24, 2011 after a brief illness.
George proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise and retired from Southern Company. He was proud to be affiliated with the Sons of Confederate Veterans and was a member of the Beech Island Agricultural Club.
He is survived by his mother, French G. Carpenter Elliott Boyd of Saluda, SC; son, Daniel Carpenter (Jessica) of Augusta; daughter, Darlene Bobbie Carpenter-Calhoun (Derek) of North Augusta, SC; sisters: Cherie Munoz (Noel) of Pensacola, FL, Carol May (Joe) of Wrens, GA; special friend, Janet Goggins Long of Lithia Springs, GA; along with many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Interment will follow at Wrens City Cemetery.
