Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, George Edmunds “Ed” Walton, age 67.

Ed was born in Augusta, GA, but grew up in Vidalia, GA where he graduated from Vidalia High School. He attended Southern Technical Institute ( Southern Polytechnic). Ed started his career at Lockheed Corporation in Atlanta, GA before moving back to Augusta to work for Motion Industries. He then worked for Bearings & Drives Inc. for 22 years, from which he was about to retire on March 30, 2023. Ed could build and repair anything and enjoyed engineering, mechanics, and building both on the job and at play in his massive Shop. He was a skilled hunter and loved maintaining the grounds at his hunt club. Ed was a huge fan of the DAWGS and The Master’s.

Family members include his children: Lindsey E. Walton and Halie E. Gautier (David); grandchildren: Kade Stewart, Stella Gautier, and Parker Gautier; fiancée and love of his life: Bee Dixon; Bee’s children: Katie and Laura Thigpen; Ed’s siblings: Meg Hadlock (Dick), Ellen Walton (Robert Long), Matt Porter (Tish), and Randy Porter (Marcia); and his nieces and nephews: Ashley Reynolds (Lee), Robyn Long (Steve Weber), and Robert Long (Kate) and their children, Isabelle and Ethan

The memorial service will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Mark Maund officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

As Ed loved hunting and the outdoors, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the National Rifle Association at https://donate.nra.org/donate .
