Gerald “Gene” Thompson
Grovetown, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, May 8, 2013, Mr. Gerald “Gene” Thompson, 71, son of the late J.Y. Thompson and the late Ruby Cushman.
Gerald was a native of Augusta and retired from Proctor & Gamble. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving from 1968-1969, He served with the 319th Transportation Co in the Army. Gerald also loved to travel.
Family members include brother: Carl (Elaine) Cushman of Evans; nephews: Brandon (Carrie Ann) Cushman and Clay Cushman; great nephew: Branson Cushman; cousins: Jewel (Ted) Bingham; and dear friends: the late Wilhelmina McMahan, Sharon Anderson, Jerry and JoAnn Jenkins, and caregivers including his comrades in the 319th Transportation Co. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Ann Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Wayne Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Feed the Children at P.O. Box 36 Oklahoma City, OK 73101.
