Gerald Louis Gleason, Sr., 65 of Augusta, Georgia went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Halford Gleason and his four children, Tamara Knox, (Bill) of Lawrencville, Georgia, Gerald Louis Gleason, Jr., (Christina) of Jacksonville, Florida, Teresa Johnson, (Ron) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Sean Gleason, (Glenna) of Roswell, Georgia. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, Christopher Knox, Casey Knox Nestor, (Sean), Avery Gleason, Emily Conniff, Chase Gleason, and Makenzie Gleason; brother: Fr. Carl Gleason S.D.S. and sisters: Virginia Rhodes, Barbara Ginn (Ed) and Patricia Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Virginia Gleason. He proudly served his country for twenty years in the United States Navy. After his Navy service he worked at First Baptist Church of Augusta and First Presbyterian Church of Augusta and later retired from the Augusta Housing Authority. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he served as an ordained deacon, a member of the George Ballentine Sunday School Class, the Benevolence Ministry and was on the Historical Committee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg DeLoach, Dr. Rodger Murchison, Dr. Jake Malone, and Rev. Albert Halford officiating. Burial will be at Blythe Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aubrey Rhodes, Jimmy Rhodes, Carl Rhodes, Mike Keys, Larry Robinson, and Keith Beckworth. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons and members of the George Ballentine Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Augusta.
