Augusta, GA – On Sunday, February 4, 2024, SFC Gerald “Jerry” Moore (Ret.), 82, loving husband of Lora “Millie” Moore, went home to be with the Lord.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Army and worked in civil service at Fort Gordon. He was a Vietnam veteran and recipient of many medals and honors who loved serving his country. Jerry was the rock of his family and dearly loved each of them. He loved his wife, Millie and enjoyed spending time with her. Jerry loved sharing how proud he was of his daughters and their achievements. He cherished the time with his granddaughter videoing their outings and taking him to doctor’s appointments. A huge New England Patriots fan he loved discussing football with his grandsons and enjoyed shooting pool with his son-in-law. Jerry knew he could count on his family at the drop of a hat, no matter the time of day or night. He loved his four-legged companions “Liz” and “Snoopy” and taking them for walks on a leash. He was a flirt with all the ladies but especially his nurses. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Tina Greene (Dennis) and Sandie Craig (Scotty); grandchildren: Christian Hunter Moore (Liz), Ronald Michael Moore (Jessica), and Summer Nicole Marie Garcia; great grandchildren: Riley, Kaiden, Braelynn, Logan, Raelynn, and Mi’Lanni; niece: Diana “Dee Dee” Moore; and nephew: Terrance "Terry" Moore, Jr. He is also survived by several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his twin brother and best friend, Terrance “Terry” Moore, and son-in-law, Rayford “Scotty” Scott Craig.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with a celebration of life beginning at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dennis Greene, Christian Hunter Moore, Ronald Michael Moore, and Chad Remkus.
