Gloria Pabon

Gloria Ester Martínez de Pabón entered into rest Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 at the age of 89. Born on September 9th, 1929 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Dolores Morales Rubero and Pedro Martínez Rosa. Gloria earned an RN degree in nursing and was a devoted public servant. On June 25th, 1951, she married Francisco Luis Pabón Molina, a young loyal soldier in the United States Army, Infantry Division. Together, they would have three children. A longtime resident of Augusta, Georgia, Gloria spent many years employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital as a dedicated nurse caring for wounded soldiers returning from the Vietnam War. In 1996 she retired after 20 years of service.

Gloria enjoyed many hobbies and activities that included beading, gardening, crocheting, reciting poetry, and dancing. Her vibrant personality and zest for life transferred over into her fashion, as her grandchildren fondly remember her choice of dazzling colors and use of accessories, always dressed to perfection! Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Francisco Luis Pabón Molina, her sister Luz María Martínez de Ascanio, and her brothers Efraín Valderrama Morales and Francisco Valderrama Morales.

She is survived by her three children, Gloria Magali Pabón Meador (Kimford); Frank L. Pabón (Leslie); William Pabón (Cecile); her two brothers Jose Valderrama Morales and Luis Valderrama Morales; and 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Mima.
