AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Thursday, August 27, 2009, Mrs. Gloria Robinson Hunter, 62, wife of Thomas M. Hunter, Sr.
Mrs. Hunter was a native of Walterboro, SC. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1969 where she was a member of an academic society. She taught high school Latin and English for 30 years in Richmond and Columbia County Schools, where she was named Teacher of the Year several times.
Family members in addition to her husband include her son: Thomas M. Hunter, Jr. and wife Kristin of Martinez; grandchildren: Brett Spires and Thomas M. Hunter III, both of Martinez; mother: Rachel Lemacks: sisters: Lillie Vaughn, Paulette Farrell and brother: Melvin Lemacks, all of Walterboro.
A Memorial service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. O’Neal Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Augusta Humane Society, P.O. Box 12035, Augusta, GA 30914-2035 or to a charity of your choice.
