Maj. Green B. Williams, Jr. US Army (Ret)
Augusta, GA – Major Green B. Williams, Jr., a native of Rome, GA, loving husband of Anita Jean Williams, reported for his last change of duty on Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Green served in the Navy and Army for a total of 20 years. He then spent 22 years working at Savannah Council of Governments as Director of Lower Community Development. While in Rome, he obtained rank of an Eagle Scout and was class President of McHenry High School 1945. Later in life, he organized the first McHenry High Reunions. Green was a member of Masonic Lodge, Lyndale, GA. Green was also a member of Scottish Rite and Fort Worth Masonic Temple. He gave generously of his time and talents to Ascension Lutheran Church.
Family members include his daughters: Carla Rossiter of Cape Cod, MA, Amy J. Long (David) of Summerville, SC; son: Norman Williams (Kathy) of Evans, GA; grandchildren: Collin Williams, Walker Long, Sullivan Long, and Wren Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents: Green B. Williams, Sr. and Mary Lou Maddox Williams; and son: Green B. Williams, III.
Funeral service with military honors will be accorded Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Ascension Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Freed officiating. Interment will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
