Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, March 23, 2010, Mr. Guy Arnett, 97, husband of the late Wilma Arnett.

Mr. Arnett was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, but was a long time resident of Augusta. He was a Lieutenant Commander on the 7th Fleet in the Pacific on board the USS Crescent City during World War II. Mr. Arnett was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, and had worked in personnel management for Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired from NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 1974. He was a member of Fort Gordon Retired Officer’s Association as well as various organizations such as Kiwanis, Lions, and Civitan. He was a board member of Georgia Senior Golfer’s Association. While living in Washington, D.C. he had the distinct honor of serving as President of the National Conferences of State Societies which was responsible for the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

Family members include: sons: Byron H. Arnett of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Gary L. Arnett (Elena) of Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter: Vicki Arnett Perez of Dade City, Florida, grandchildren: Sarah Arnett of Idaho, Anna Childs (Bill) of Colorado, Rachel Toner (Shawn) of Ireland, Rebecca Arnett of California, Joaquin Perez of New York, and 3 great granddaughters, Hannah, Leah and Olivia Toner of Ireland. Mr. Arnett was preceded in death by his wife, the late Wilma Arnett.


A Celebration of life will be held in the Georgia Room of Brandon Wilde, Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Riddle Officiating.
A reception will follow. A committal service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Covenant Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden with Rev. Robert Watkins officiating. The family would like to thank the many loving hands and hearts of the Brandon Wilde Arbor staff that so tenderly cared for Mr. Arnett for over ten years.
