Gwen Elliott

Evans, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, August 28, 2016, Mrs. Gwendolyn Elliott, 93, loving wife to the late Dean Elliott.

Gwendolyn Murphy Elliott, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born in Cambridge, Ohio on January 28, 1923.

Working in a WWII equipment factory at night, Gwen attended Otterbein College during the day. She earned her Bachelor's degree in 1944, which was also the year of her marriage to Dean C. Elliott, MD.

Dean and Gwen raised their three children in Petoskey, Michigan, a place she truly cherished. There, Dean practiced medicine, and Gwen, a homemaker, was an active volunteer in the community.

A natural athlete, Gwen loved golf, tennis and walked daily. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland and various other regions throughout Europe. California also captured her heart as a favorite destination, as all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have lived there for the past 35 years.

In 1977, Gwen and Dean relocated to West Lake in Augusta, Georgia, where she grew to love her adopted Southern home. She remained a dedicated Augusta community member until her passing almost 40 years later.

Gwen is survived by her children: Eric Elliott, Meganne Elliott Behle and Christina Elliott; her grandchildren: Brandon Behle, Chelsea Behle Fralick and Madison Elliott; and her great-grandchildren: Beau Behle and Stella Fralick.

In addition to her kindness, Gwen's quick wit and side-splitting sense of humor were her signature qualities. Gwen lead a dynamic and generous life. From her example blossomed a family rich with joy and gratitude.
