Mr. Harbin L. Hurst, Sr.
Augusta, GA – Mr. Harbin Layton Hurst, Sr., affectionally known as Jose entered into rest at the VA. Hospital on Tuesday, October 25, 2011.
Mr. Hurst was born in Wooster, ARK on April 9, 1923, the son of Augustus Layton Hurst and Mary A. Newton Hurst.
Harbin served in the United States Air Force during World War II and received wings as a navigator. He attended Berkley University in Berkley California. He was employed with E.I. Dupont and Fluor Daniel before retiring.
Harbin was predeceased in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Bettye Rose Hurst and second wife Linda Prickett Hurst; grand daughters: Olivia Nicole Hurst and Ursula Shae Criner and three sisters, six brother and parents. Surviving children: Harbin L. Hurst, Jr., Gary Michael Hurst, Kathryn McCurry Hudson, Victoria Elaine Hydrick and Jon Rodney Hurst, sixteen grandchildren and in addition to his namesake, grandson, Harbin Layton Hurst III.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with his grandson Stephen Shawn Michael Hair officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904. or the American Heart Association, 2807 Washington Rd., Suite B, #146, Augusta, GA. 30909.
