Harmon H. Byrd

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, September 26, 2010, Mr. Harmon Harrison Byrd, 86, husband of 63 years to Betty R. Byrd of Augusta.
Mr. Byrd was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and aided in the liberation of France. He was in the 28th Division where he was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart. He moved back to Augusta and became a licensed electrician. He was employed by Byrd’s Electric and Plumbing and retired at the age of 80.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Cindy Rodriguez and husband Johnny, B.J. Agerton and husband Jim; grandchildren: Jonathan Rodriguez, Matthew Agerton, Joey Rodriguez, Annah Rae Agerton; sister: Helen B. Mills; and brother: William C. Byrd.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
