North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest on July 7, 2009 at National Health Care Nursing Home of North Augusta, SC, Harold Francis Truchsess, beloved husband of Nellie D. Truchsess.
Mr. Truchsess was born February 24, 1920 to Harold W. and Clara Staser Truchsess
In Easton, PA. He graduated from Easton Catholic High School in the class of 1936. in 1940 he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society. He was employed by E. I. DuPont deNemours Company for 42 years until his retirement in 1982. He started his DuPont career as a supervisor in Parlin, N.J., then served as Assistant Plant Manager in Fort Madison, Iowa, and later was the Director of Planning and Scheduling for the Fabrics and Finishes Division in Wilmington, Delaware. In Fort Madison he served as President of the Catholic Board of Education and was an active member of Toastmaster’s Association. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church.
He was a devoted husband and loving father of six children.
After retiring in 1982, he and his wife made their winter residence in Hollywood, Florida and their summer residence in Honesdale. PA. In 1999 they moved to Augusta, GA.
His survivors include his wife, Nellie DeRaymond Truchsess, and five children: Patricia Sanders and her husband Jim, Honesdale, PA; Kathleen (Kit) Laughlin and her husband Larry, Augusta, GA; Dr. Jeanette Truchsess, St. Paul, MN; Julia Truchsess
Flechner and her husband Jimmy, Sandy Hook, CT; and Mary McConnell and her husband Joe, Plantation Isles, FL. He is also survived by a sister, Marion Rafferty, and her husband Edward, Easton, PA. He leaves 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Harold W., in 1968.
A Memorial service will be held at Friday, July 31, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Charlie Stakely officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank the staff of both the Jasmine and Camellia wings of National Health Care for their consistent care and comfort.
A Memorial service will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Davis Road. Date and time will be announced.
