Harold Trent

Alton “Harold” Trent of Martinez, GA entered into eternity April 25, 2022. He was 80 years old.

Harold is survived by his wife Sharon Whitmer Trent of Martinez, GA; their children Phil and Karen Whitmer of Fayetteville, GA, and Lee Whitmer of Augusta, GA; siblings Norma Wykle, Glenda Ramsey, and Jake (Geraldine) Trent; grandchildren Rachel and Jay Downs, Franklin Reeder, Jessica and Matt Melnyczuk, Ben and Mariah Whitmer, Emma Whitmer, and Nick and Molly Whitmer; and two great-granddaughters, Margaret Whitmer and Kira Melnyczuk.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Renee Hughes, parents James Elmer Trent and Dearbara Ruby Trent, and brother Dallas Trent.

Harold grew up in Morristown, Tennessee, and later moved to Augusta, where he met and married his wife, Sharon. He spent his career working with his best friends Dennis Byrd and David Edens at Augusta Bumper & Glass and Schultz Hill Auto Glass.

He and Sharon shared an enthusiasm for antiquing, spending weekends hunting for bargains on new pieces to add to their collections at home or in their booth at Trends & Traditions. His greatest joys in life were God and his family, whether visiting Tennessee or cheering at his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Harold was a special man, loved by many, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

The family will receive visitors at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 28, at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral, 214 Davis Rd, Augusta, GA 30907. Visitation will be followed by interment at 2:00 pm at Bellevue Memorial Gardens & Chapel, 4501 Wrightsboro Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813.
