Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Augusta Hills Nursing Home, Mr. Harold Whitfield Thompson, 82, husband of Eva H. Thompson of Martinez, GA.
Mr. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area. Mr. Thompson served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the destroyer USS John W Weeks. He retired from I. E. Dupont after 40 years. He worked for Westinghouse for another five years at the Savannah River Site. Mr. Thompson was a member of Central Christian Church.
Family members include his wife Eva H. Thompson, of Martinez; daughter Terri Thompson of Augusta, sisters Catherine James, Camille KIRKLAND, NEPHEW MICHAEL THOMPSON AND DOMINO, HIS FAVORITE POOCH.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Donald Prosser officiating.
