AUGUSTA, Ga. – On November 30, 2009, Mrs. Harriet W. (Happy) Pou passed away peacefully at her residence in Columbus, Georgia. Mrs. Pou was the wife of the late Dr. Leo H. Pou, Jr. “Happy” as she was known to family and friends, was born on August 18, 1928 in Woodruff, SC. She grew up in Augusta, Georgia and attended Tubman High School. After graduation she enrolled in the Navy nurse program at University Hospital in Augusta where she received her diploma in nursing. Mrs. Pou worked as a registered nurse at University Hospital in Augusta where she met and married Dr. Leo H. Pou, Jr. She raised their five children in Shreveport, LA, where she was active in the Shreveport Kennel Club and the Ladies Golf Association. She later resided in Atlanta, Georgia with her final residence in Columbus, Georgia. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all her family and friends.

Family members in addition to her late husband include her son: Leo “Skip” Pou and his wife, Sandra of Athens, GA; daughters: Margaret (Marcia) Sinclair Fowler and her husband Lou of Austin, TX, and Harriet Michele Lewis and her husband Jay, of Columbus, GA., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pou was preceded in death by her daughters, Carol Johnson and Susan Pou.

Graveside services will be Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Walker Family Cemetery, located at Augusta State University

The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 4, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 36408484.
