Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Kentwood Nursing Home, Mr. Harvey Clayton Foushee, 85, husband to Aileen Foushee.
Mr. Foushee was born in Orange County, NC to the late Charles Daniel Foushee and Sarah Elizabeth Jobe Foushee. He graduated from Graham High School in Graham, NC. Mr. Foushee enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1947 and served until 1950. He graduated from Elon College in NC, taught Physics at Asheboro High School, and worked in management at Carolina Power and Light. Later he began a career as an industrial engineer with Western Electric which led to a graduate degree in Bio-Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech. He was transferred to the Lucent Division of AT&T in NY where he was a resident of West Windsor, NJ. He retired from Lucent Technologies in 1984.
Harvey enjoyed his grandchildren, painting, photography and traveling. Mr. Foushee worked as a Boy Scout Leader with the Graham Methodist Church and was active with the Graham Jaycees.
In 2001 Harvey moved back to his N.C. home and established residency in New Bern. He was a faithful member of Garber Methodist Church in New Bern. Mr. Foushee and his wife later transferred to Augusta to be closer to their family.
Other family members include his sons: H. Clayton Foushee, Jr. (Leann) of Annapolis, MD, Stephen R. Foushee (Karen) of Augusta, GA, John K. Foushee (Debi) of Hamilton, NJ, and David A. Foushee from Charlotte, NC, Eight grandchildren: Joel Foushee, Justin Foushee, Kaitlin Foushee, Andrew Foushee, Mathew Foushee, Amanda Foushee, Alan Foushee, and Jeffrey Foushee. He also has 1 great grandchild, Hailey Elizabeth Foushee.
In Augusta, the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 at Thomas Poteet and Son. In North Carolina, the funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rich & Thompson Funeral Home, 207 East Elm St. Graham, NC. 27213. and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
