Harvey Cleveland “Cleve” Horne, 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at his residence in Thomson, GA.
Cleve was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Horne and Joyce Horne; Aunt, Naomi Finley, and sister Elaine Owens. Cleve’s survivors include his devoted wife, Kathleen Horne; daughters, Shannon Horne (Eric) and Jamie English (Brad); grandchildren, Hannah Quarles (Bruce), Kendall English, Walker English, Ashlyn Shaddix and Layla Shaddix; sisters, Debbie Adams (Roger), Theresa Horne, Angela Horne; brother, Rick Horne; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Cleve was born on June 12, 1951 in Aiken, SC. He spent most of his childhood in Martinez, Ga, where he called home until joining the United States Army at the age of 18 and proudly served his country. His military service was an important chapter in his life. After completing his service in the Army, Cleve joined the workforce and eventually started his 29 year career as a machinist at Lily Tulip, which later became known as Sweetheart Cup. Cleve’s commitment to his work not only showcased his skills but also demonstrated his work ethic and passion for providing for his family.
Those who knew Cleve were well aware of his warm, loving heart. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who was in need. He found joy in the simple things in life. He had an infectious smile and to know him was to love him.
One of Cleve’s greatest pleasures in life was spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Cleve also enjoyed watching football and was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2-5pm at the English Family residence.
