Hazel Elaine Reddick

Hazel Elaine Byrd Reddick, 60, of Augusta, GA, passed away November 9, 2024.

Hazel was born on October 19, 1964, in Thomaston, GA, and moved with her family to Statesboro, GA, where she attended Marvin Pittman Elementary School. She was a 1983 graduate of Statesboro High School. Hazel attended Georgia College & State University and graduated in 1988 from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Elementary Education.

A lover of children, she found great joy in teaching. She taught kindergarten students for several years before her children were born and later served as a substitute teacher for Richmond County Schools. She also worked in the preschool ministry at Warren Baptist Church and most recently at First Baptist Church of Augusta.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. Nathan C Byrd, Jr. & Frieda Anne Headley Byrd.

Hazel was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Hazel is survived by her husband of 36 years, Charles Philip Reddick and three adult children: Gregory Reddick & Daniel Reddick, both of Augusta, and Avelyn Chamberlin (Zach) of Toccoa, GA.

She is also survived by her siblings, Gyni Wood (Mark) of Dublin, GA; Annette Wilson (Scott) of Manakin Sabot, VA; Nathan Byrd (Karen) of Athens, GA; and Paul Byrd (Terri) of Cumming, GA; along with many nieces and nephews and other family members.

Family was her greatest joy. Hazel had a great love for dogs. She had a delightful laugh that was contagious, and she was a great friend to many. Hazel was a follower of Jesus and faith was a guiding light in her life. She brought joy and comfort to many by living a life of continual prayer for others.

Hazel was so loved and will be deeply missed!
