Hazel Marie White
Augusta, GA – Hazel Marie White entered Heavens Gate on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Marie was born on November 25, 1934 in the Old Indian Territory of Oklahoma near Vian to Leander and Lela Lewis. She was raised on a cattle farm with eight brothers and one sister. After high school Marie followed her older siblings to California where she married Harold B. White and became an army wife, a profession she truly endured with joy. They had four children in four years, and homes from one side of the world to the other including six years in Germany. Marie and Harold enjoyed the people God put in their lives, making many friends along the way. Their home was always open and welcoming to others. Every neighborhood child called her Nannie and felt free to walk in and check out the refrigerator contents.
Augusta, Georgia became their last stop. Here they welcomed their grandchildren and became members of Lakemont PCA, making many close friends in the fellowship there. Marie was a wonderful homemaker. She was a great seamstress, always willing to feed others, and even filling the walls of her home with beautiful art she had painted.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents and her eight siblings. She is survived by her children: Michael White, Bill (Barbara) White, Shirley (Dave) Willard, and Vikki (Lawrence) Dore; six grandchildren: John Dore , Billy White, Melissa Fish, Jessica Smith, Becca Bell and Sarah Rowell and 14 great grandchildren.
Her memories were good, even the hard ones were spoken of as “Well, we made it.” She loved her family and we loved her right back.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, Georgia. All are welcome. Her pastor Dave Vosseller of Lakemont Presbyterian Church will officiate.
