Heidi McCorkle
Augusta, GA – Ms. Heidi Lyn McCorkle, 28, the beloved mother of Shawn Crocker and Josh McCorkle, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
Ms. McCorkle was a native of Harlem, Georgia. She was a devoted mother to her two boys, Shawn and Josh; they were her greatest passion and her priority in life. Though she was an accomplished sonographer, she considered motherhood her finest accolade. She cherished every moment that she spent with her sons and embraced their time together. They were without question the loves of her life. Heidi graduated with an Associate of Science in Cardiovascular Technology from the Harry T. Harper Jr. M.D. School of Cardiovascular Technology, a program of Augusta Technical College and University Hospital, in 2005. She was currently employed as the Senior Sonographer at the Vein Guys of Evans. In that capacity, she served as technical director of the vascular lab where she administrated their accreditation through the Intersocietal Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. Heidi excelled in teaching vascular technology and sonography. Her dedication to the field of Ultrasound led her to organize a local chapter of the national organization, the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. Heidi was presently serving as the president of that chapter and had a vision that included promoting the technical quality, competency, and careers of vascular sonographers throughout the state. Vascular technologist and sonographers throughout the area are currently expressing the desire to continue the organization in her memory. Heidi’s input and contributions to the field of vascular sonography will be greatly missed.
