Mrs. Helen D. Wells

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Helen D. Wells, age 82, wife of the late Burnell Wells, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2010.
Although a native of Hilda, SC, she had been a resident of Augusta, GA for many years and was a long time employee of Smoak’s Bakery. She was a member of Dallas Heights Baptist Church for over 56 years, where she served her Lord and Savior faithfully as WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Zelma Dyches, a son, Wesley Wells, a grandson, Thomas Tidwell, brothers, Chandler, Wesley, Bill, and Henry Dyches, and sister Vera Taylor.
Family members include: daughters: Annette Allen (Charles), of Grovetown, and Karen Tidwell (Terry) of Raleigh, NC, son: George Wells Sr. (the late Connie) of Augusta, brothers: Joe Dyches (Virginia), of Aiken, SC, and J.D. Dyches (Pat), of Martinez, sisters: Nora Griffin (Morgan), of Martinez, Mary Horne of Augusta, and Eva Brown, of Belvedere, SC, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 2 P.M. (Mrs. Wells will lie in state 1 hour prior to the service) at Dallas Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Charles M. Peters officiating. Interment will follow to Westover Memorial Park (2601 Wheeler Road). Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brian Wells, Barry Wells, George Wells Jr., Michael Allen, John Allen, Paul Tidwell, and great grandsons, David Wells, and Justin Wells.
