Mrs. Duncan was born May 2, 1923 in McCormick, SC and has resided in the Augusta area for over 60 years. She was a resident of Westwood Nursing Home, Evans, GA. Mrs. Duncan retired after 33 years from the Richmond County Board of Education as an Administrative Assistant of the Transportation Department. Mrs. Duncan was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Retired Secretaries and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Family members include daughters: Marsha Purvis Mascorro (Robert) of El Paso, TX and Cheryl Purvis Avera (Andy) of Martinez, GA, grandchildren: Christopher Parks Chapman of N. Augusta, SC and Miguel Jose Mascorro of Austin, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Carl and Alma Dillashaw Willis and two brothers, Carl Harold Willis and Thomas Dennis Willis, first husband, Emperor Purvis, second husband, Owen O’Neal Duncan.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow in McCormick City Cemetery, McCormick, SC.
