Helen L. Lane, 79
Augusta, GA – Ms. Helen Lynette Lane entered into Heaven’s gates on Friday, April 17, 2020, at Westwood Extended Care Facility in Evans, GA where she had resided for the last five years.
Helen was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Pierce Yarbrough (Frances Elizabeth Channell). She was born in the small community of Jewell, Georgia in Warren County on December 23, 1940, and spent most of her life in the Augusta area. In April 2000, she retired from the downtown division of the VA Medical Center Hospital where she served for 20 years as a nursing assistant in the spinal cord unit. Prior to working at the VA, she gave many years of service to patients at Gracewood State School and Hospital.
She was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord and attended church when her health allowed her to attend. She wholeheartedly enjoyed gardening, fishing, and especially cooking for her family and friends. She also loved to play Yahtzee while listening to country music, and the beach was always her favorite place to go. While in the nursing facility, you could often find her watching TV, working a crossword or sudoku puzzle, playing bingo or reading her bible. She was an amazing woman, beloved mother, "MeeMaw" or "MeeMee" (depending on who you ask) and a loyal friend. She just lived and loved life to its fullest.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving brother Alfred B. Yarbrough of Edgefield, SC. She is survived by her three daughters: Julie Bagby Sammons (Gary) of Grovetown, GA, Beverly Bagby Barton (Randy) of Graniteville, SC, and Marie Lane Adams (James) of Lincolnton, GA; eleven grandchildren: Lauren & Savannah Brown, Zakary Sammons; April Frommer (Jason) & Amber Barden (Derrick) ; Chelsea & Haley Lane, Seth & Trent Brahier, Chris & Jamie Adams; eight great-grandchildren: Nathan, Ethan & Abigail Frommer, Emma & Madelyn Barden; Nikolai Lane, Dayton Mullis; and Noah Lane. She was also survived by her beloved sister: Betty Amerson of Lilburn, GA.
The family welcomes you to attend a celebration of life service which will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Westview Cemetery, Thomson, GA.
