Mrs. Helen M. Jagnandan
Augusta, GA – Helen Mahadai Jagnandan, 84, entered into rest Sunday, October 9, 2011 at University Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born on December 9, 1926 in Guyana, South America, Mrs. Jagnandan was a retired teacher at Josey High School in Augusta where she taught for over 20 years. She served in various volunteer capacities in the community and sang in the church choir at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Jagnandan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Dr. Wilfred L. Jagnandan in 1987; a son, Dr. Norris Jagnandan; a daughter, Nora Irvin Campbell of Auckland, New Zealand; and a granddaughter, Ramona Hodge of Martinez, GA. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Jagnandan is survived by sons, Neville “Jag” Jagnandan (Raija) of Martinez, GA; Edward R. Jagnandan (Brenda) of Wilson, NC; and Leonard S. Jagnandan (June) of Kissimmee, FL; 5 sisters; grandchildren, Richard (Joanne) and Robert Silver of Auckland, New Zealand; Anita “Tobie” Aune of Greensboro, NC; Davin (Ami) Jagnandan of Atlanta, GA; Johan (Robin) Jagnandan of Martinez, GA; Kimby Jagnandan of Davenport, FL; Creighton Jagnandan of Athens, GA; Anna-Marie Jagnandan of Davenport, FL; Steven Jagnandan of Kissimmee, FL; Ravi Jagnandan of Sparta, TN; Marissa Jagnandan of Germany; Jennifer Geiger (Jamie), David Rife and Derek Rife all of Indianapolis, IN; 27 great grandchildren, including Raven Hodge of Martinez, GA; Taylor Aune of Martinez, GA; Ryan Peavey of Augusta, GA; Tyler and Lance Silver of New Zealand; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church in Augusta, where she has been a faithful member for the past 24 years with Rev. Paul Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff on 7 West Palliative Care and 5 West at University Hospital for their compassionate care.
