Helen Popovich Mitro
Augusta, GA –Mrs. Helen Popovich Mitro, 96, wife for 55 years of the late Col. Michael P. Mitro, US Army (Ret), entered into rest Monday, September 26, 2016,
Mrs. Mitro was a native of Lorraine, OH and resident of Brandon Wilde in Evans, GA. She and her late husband made their 1st Communion together, attended High School together, and then shared 30 years and more than 20 moves with the US Army. Helen was an accomplished homemaker who could bake in the kitchen as well as lay bricks for a yard project or play a great game of bridge.
Family members include her daughters: Barbara Funk (Robert), Judy Anderson, and Kathy Belinski (Ed); sister: Irene Dombrowski; 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A holy rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at 6:30 PM and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 PM at Thomas Poteet & Son, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
The Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Grovetown, GA with Fr. Michael Ingram celebrant. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
