Augusta, GA - HELEN BASKERVILLE WILHELMI, wife of 67 years to the late Louis J. Wilhelmi, M.D., died on October 3, 2021. Born October 24, 1927 in Wilmington, Illinois, then to Symerton, IL, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Baskerville. She was also proceeded in death by two brothers, Robert Baskerville and Gerald Baskerville. She attended Wilmington High School, Joliet Junior College and the University of Illinois. She married Lou in 1953 during which time he was attending University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago. After graduation, the couple moved to California where Lou completed his residency and served in the US Air Force. They enjoyed Southern California very much in those golden days and stayed until 1969, when they returned to Illinois and took up residence in Morris. During those years Helen was co-owner of a women’s boutique, The City Mouse, with her late friend, Gay Ortiz. Helen was also on several hospital auxiliaries.
Helen and Lou moved to Augusta, GA in 1979. Helen enjoyed the Southern life, beaches and mountains and became an avid Braves fan. She was a member of the St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.
Her survivors include her two children, Mark L. Wilhelmi (Marcie) and Dana M. Wilhelmi, both of Augusta, grandchildren, L.J. Wilhelmi (Christy) and Mark Wilhelmi, Alex Abramson and Ana Abramson, great-grandchildren, Harper and Reese Wilhelmi and several nieces and nephews.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Mark Ross as celebrant. The family will have visitation beforehand at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Westover Cemetery.
