Helga Andrews

Evans, GA –Helga Barbara (Weyandt) Andrews entered in to rest on Friday, January 17 in her home at The Oaks of Evans at the age of 85.

Helga was born in Zerf, Germany June 28, 1939. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Walter and Tilly Weyandt. Helga came to the Augusta area with her two children, determined to give them a life in the US. Helga married the love of her life William Robert Andrews in 1985. He was the light of her world. Helga retired from Ft Gordon after many years working as a dental assistant. She was a faithful member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Helga at heart was a Humanitarian and Entertainer who visited nursing homes and loved hosting dinners for family, friends, and priests in her home. She never arrived without a gift in her hand. She loved to travel and was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. When Helga made a friend, they were a friend for life which is evident in her long list of friendships that span decades.

Family members include her sons: Charles Tolbert (Kerensa) and Scott Tolbert (Celania); grandchildren: Chandler Tolbert (Jonnah), Scott Tolbert (Cheila), Steven Tolbert (Lily) and Melanie Tolbert; nephew and godson Walter Kessler (Beate), her very best friend Renata Blume who visited every day and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her husband: William R. Andrews; her parents and one sister: Rosina “Sinchen” Weyandt.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813. There will be a Rosary at 10 AM and Memorial Service at 11 AM. Inurnment will follow in St. Teresa of Avila Columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family would like to thank Helga’s dedicated caregivers Sarah, Lenora, and Michelle for their compassionate service and dedication for which we will be forever grateful, as well as The Oaks Family for being just that, a family to her.
