Herbert Dale Washburn
Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, Herbert Dale Washburn, 79, husband of Bonnie Flanigan Washburn.
Herb, born in Mannington, West Virginia, grew up on the family farm in Lost Creek, West Virginia. After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving four years as a radar technician. He then began a career as a computer service technician with Honeywell. Herb was a jack of all trades and enjoyed home improvement projects. In the fall, he was often out deer hunting and as a life-long Braves fan, always looked forward to a new baseball season each spring. Herb was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 38 and battled the disease for 40 years.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Stefanie Washburn Frey (John G Frey, III); son: Douglas Scott Washburn; grandsons: Matthew Becker Frey, Thomas Anson Frey, Russell Palmer Frey, III; brothers: William Washburn, Terence Washburn, Steven Washburn, John Washburn and sister: Velma “Micki” Washburn Steif. Herb is preceded in death by his parents: Jean Griffin Baughman and James Anson Washburn.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
