Hilda Reece Powell 

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, April 11, 2024, Mrs. Hilda Reece Powell, 91, loving wife of the late Robert F. “Bobby” Powell. 

     Hilda was born April 10, 1933, in Graniteville, SC to the late Pickens and Cora Reece. Hilda loved flowers and plants and had many during her lifetime with an inherent green thumb. But her gift was the ability to write poetry. She was an avid poet and wrote hundreds of poems during her lifetime, the first handwritten one being in 1948. 

     She never lacked for words, and she showed her love through both the written word and her conversations with others.  Hilda loved her family. She loved and nurtured them BIG. She was an amazingly kind and compassionate woman. She was an anointed woman, a God fearing, non-judgmental woman! Her family often shared their burdens of the good, the bad and the ugly with her without fear and she would talk them through anything and guide them through it. She Prayed with them through anything. She had the stature and backbone of a person much bigger than her 100 pounds. She was the matriarch!

     She gave to so many with her heart of service during her lifetime! If she was your friend, she was loyal and never failed to defend. She was full of boisterous laughter and love for everyone!

     Most importantly, Her hands prayed over her family and friends continuously and her prayers will continue to cover her grands, great grands and her great-great grands for many more years to come!

     Family members include her son: Vincent Gregory Powell (Stacey); daughter: Angela Powell Reasoner (Reno); five grandchildren: Michelle, Robert “Andy” (Melanie), Stephen, Robin Guerrero (Laurencio), and Hannah;   great grandchildren: Austin Lynn (Rebecca), Jarad, Carter, Landen, Lilly, Cal, Georgia Lynn, Ensley, Hill, Selah and Sunday; two great-great grandchildren: Amelia and Veda Lynn; sister, Shirley Ford (Robert); nephew: Keith Ford; sister-in-law: Pam M. Chance (Wesley), Phyllis Powell (The Late Starling Powell) and Doris Powell (The Late Carl Powell); several nieces and nephews and many friends. Hilda will be missed by her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her son: Robert A. Powell and baby: Richard Darryl Powell.

     The memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
