Augusta, GA – Holly Hoover Bullock, 57, of Evans, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 18, 2014 after a year-long struggle with ovarian cancer.

Born at West Point, NY, she was the daughter of Major General John and Mary Jo Hoover. Holly graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Wildlife Management. She worked as a wildlife inspector at the Atlanta Airport and as a biologist at Millen National Fish Hatchery. Later she was an Army civilian telecommunications specialist, training and working at Fort Gordon, GA where she met her husband, Steve. Together they moved to Germany and then Colorado, where her children were born at the Air Force Academy. Later, when the family lived at West Point, Holly found her dream job as a West Point tour guide. Growing up in an Army family and then as the wife of an Army officer, Holly lived in Germany, VA, HI, PA, GA, NJ, AZ, CO, GA, KS, and NY before moving to Evans in 2000.

She loved spending time outdoors, marveling in the world of nature. Holly was a lifelong student and inspiring teacher of God’s word, leading bible studies wherever she lived. She gave her time generously, volunteering at schools, church, and Army wives’ club activities. Holly’s smile and laughter reflected a spirit that saw humor and fun in every part of life.

She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband, Stephen Bullock; children, Maggie Bullock Oliveira (Guilherme) and James Bullock; mother, Mary Jo Hoover; and sister, Kate Hoover (Stephen Lee).

The family would like to thank Dr. Bunja Rungruang and the staff at GA Regents University Cancer Center for treating her with wonderful compassion and skill.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 N. Belair Rd., Evans, GA. Interment will follow at a later date at West Point Cemetery.

“God has blessed me with great friends and family and the best doctors. I’m trusting in Him, and hope to bring honor and glory to Him through this journey. I don’t feel cheated. I’ve had a wonderful life and believe the best is yet to come.” – Holly Bullock, from a letter written July 24, 2014.
