Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, Mr. Homer Clay Armitage, 84, loving husband of 58 years to Jonaquine McCoy Armitage.
Homer was born in Kenova, WV. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1961and upon discharge, four years later, moved to Biloxi, MS to begin a career with Army Air Force Exchange; a job he loved that allowed he and his family to live in Panama and Germany. After 8 years, Homer retired as operating manager at the Fort Gordon exchange. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He was a kind man and loved people.
Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Patrick Cory Armitage (Jessica); two grandchildren: Evangeline and Piper; sisters: Rita Clark (Jeffrey) and Dana Marie Dooley; brother: Dean Linn Armitage; and special family members: Jim, Venus, Tiffany, and Kyle Wentworth. He is predeceased by his parents: Alvie and Marian Armitage; son: Michael Anthony Armitage; and his brother: Dan Lee Armitage and special friends: Jim Wentworth (Venus) and their childrenTiffany and Kyle.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating.
