Hephzibah, GA – Horace Lee Carter, 62, entered into rest July 3, 2009 at Heartland Hospice Care.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Butters Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his loving wife Gayle of 42 yrs, 2 devoted daughters Julie M. Carter and Tammy L. Johnson and husband Jessie, and 3 grandchildren he adored Taylor, Jesse, and Nathan. He also leaves his mother Thelma Wiederspahn and step-father, the late Clarence Wiederspahn; father: the late Harvey Carter; 3 sisters: Carol Sikes and husband Earl, Irene Adams and Husband Tullen, Louise McRoberts and husband Danny; 2 brothers: Don Carter, Steve Carter and wife Rosemarie; sister-in-law: Diane Westen and husband Bill. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Briar Creek Sportsman Club. He was a faithful employee of Busby’s Heating and Air for 41 yrs.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with the Rev. Lloyd Green officiating. Pallbearers will be Marc Woods, David Woods, Forrest Woods, Howard Fulcher, Ronnie Johnson, and Danny Storey.
Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909.
