Entered into rest surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence, Mr. Hoyt M Kirby, age 85, loving husband of Helen Marie Haynie Kirby of Augusta.
Other family members include his daughters: Nita Kirby Merritt and husband Gerald, Claudia Kirby Alexander, Kathy Kirby McDonnold and husband Stephen; granddaughters: Amber Wylie Gracey and husband Tom, Charlotte Kirby McDonnold, and Olivia Key McDonnold. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Sarah Clyburn Kirby.
Mr. Kirby was a native of Augusta, GA and was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University Advance Management School. He retired from the C&S National Bank in Atlanta after 35 years of service as Vice President and General Auditor. While in Augusta, he and Jim Sartor opened the Medical Center branch of C & S. He was former Treasurer for the March of Dimes. He was an Eagle Scout and earned The Order of the Arrow.
After retirement, he and his wife retired to Isle of Palms, SC. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Isle of Palms where he served as Treasurer.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice and ResCare for the loving care given to Hoyt and the family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Higgins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30909 or St. Joseph Hospice of Augusta, 1220 George C. Wilson Dr., Augusta, GA 30909.
