Evans, GA – Mr. Hubert E. Anderson, 93, beloved husband of Frances F. Anderson for 40 years, entered into rest on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his residence.
Hubert was born in Evans, Georgia, Columbia County on March 22, 1922. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre and received three (3) Bronze Star Medals. He was a well-known homebuilder and developer in the Augusta area. He owned and operated Anderson’s Pond located on Davis Road for many years. Mr. Anderson was a former Board Member for Georgia State Bank, Augusta Rescue Mission and Columbia County Tax Assessors. He was a former member of the Merchants Association of Columbia County, Builders Association of Metro Augusta and West Lake Country Club. He was a Founding Member and Deacon at West Acres Baptist Church. He was very active and served on various Committees over the years. He was a former member and Deacon at Abilene Baptist Church.
Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Ernest (June) Anderson, Linda (Roy) Cason, Mike Adams and Angie (Alan) Griffin; grandchildren: Larry (Holly) Anderson, Shari (Hal) Fountain, Ed (Marilyn) Cason, Tonya (Dwayne) Loftis, Lacey Adams, Carley Adams, Wes Adams, Andrea Griffin, Alex (Brooke) Griffin; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Anderson was pre-deceased by his parents; his siblings; son: Eric Anderson and grandson Richard Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at West Acres Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Bob Rayner and Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Anderson, Chris Leopard, Alex Griffin, Wes Adams, Josh Anderson and Rance Scott. Mr. Anderson will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mr. Anderson’s caregivers: LaTonya Nugin, Glenda Jackson, Ukaieya Rouse, Angela Wallace and Susan Cameron. The family is forever grateful for the love and care given to Mr. Anderson.
