Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Hugh Phillips Greene, Jr. husband of 46 years to Jane Morris Greene.

Mr. Greene was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. He graduated from Richmond Academy and the University of Georgia. After graduation he worked in the family business as manager of Greene’s Restaurant. Mr. Greene was the founder and owner of Pecans Unlimited for over 30 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Augusta serving as President from 1998 until 1999. His Rotary Club Honors included, Paul Harris Fellow, Will Walt Fellow and recently made Honorary Lifetime Member. Mr. Greene was a member of the Friendship Community Center Board of Directors and the Augusta Richmond County Library Board of Trustees, serving as president for 2 years, and also a member and past president of the Regional Library Board. He was a Cub Master for Pack 64 in the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Greene was a member of and served as a Deacon for Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Family members in addition to his wife include sons: Hugh P. Greene III and wife Melanie and Thomas M. Greene and wife Harvin; grandchildren: Morgan, Hugh IV, Lula and Heath; and sister- in-law: Corrille DeWitt.

A graveside service will be a week from Saturday on September 13, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in Decatur City Cemetery, 299 Bell St, Decatur, GA 30030 with Rev. Wally Rice officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Schafer, Reab Berry, Dee Bruker, Cord Kilpatrick, Nick Greene and Joel Byars.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Georgia Chapter, in memory of Hugh Greene, Jr. at 2302 Parklake Drive, NE Suite 210, Atlanta, GA 30345-2896.
