AUGUSTA,GA-Entered into rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Doctors Hospital, Mrs. Irma Lee Butler, wife of the late William S. Hamilton.
Other family members include her daughters: Ann Ezell and husband, Ron, Lydia Skilton and husband, Richard; grandchildren: Christine Brock, Sharon Rhodes, Cynthia Skilton and Joseph Skilton; granddaughter-in-law: Sarah Skilton; grandsons-in-law: Andrew G. Brock and David Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Andrew H. Brock and Kathryn Brock.
Professionally, Mrs. Butler had always been a woman ahead of her time. In 1958 she was honored as the top producing salesperson in the United States by World Book Encyclopedia. By 1977 she was a prominent real estate agent in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Butler was a gifted poet and writer. She published a travel brochure in verse and a booklet, “You Have To Go To Sell”.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 25, 2009 at 10:a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to: Alzheimer’s Asso. 1899 Central Avenue. Augusta, GA 30907-5755.
