AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Monday, October 5, 2009, at Medical College of Georgia, Mr. John T. Raborn, Jr., 80, husband of Jamee Raborn.

Mr. Raborn grew up in Hephzibah. He loved people and always had a positive attitude. He loved telling stories about growing up in Hephzibah and working at the Augusta Arsenal and at Augusta Dairies. Mr. Raborn was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served both in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He retired after 41 years as an insurance agent having begun with Interstate Life and most recently representing American General. He was a faithful Christian and served as a Deacon and Elder at Cliffwood Presbyterian Church where he and his late wife of 57 years, Anne Taylor Raborn lead the Homebound Ministries. Later in his life he met and married the second love of his life, Jamee, on August 18, 2007. They enjoyed traveling, attending the Augusta Green Jackets’ games, spending time with family and friends, and fellowshipping with their church family at Lewis Memorial UMC.
The family would like to thank the staff of MCG and Walton Rehabilitation for their love and care.

Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Susan Raborn Nickel and husband Tommy of Denver, NC; two sons: John Thomas Raborn III and wife Gail, Brad Taylor Raborn and wife Wanda; five grandchildren: Thomas Allen Nickel, Jr., Deidra Nickel Franklin, John Thomas Raborn IV, Walter Scott Raborn, Kaysi Marie Raborn; eight great-grandchildren: Cailee Franklin, Brandee Franklin, Megan Nickel, Jack Raborn, Elizabeth Raborn, Sydney Raborn, Southern Raborn and Sadie Raborn; sister: Barbara Mayer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Raborn, Sr., and Alva Goodwin Raborn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Ocotober 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Lewis Memorial UMC with Rev. Eddie Bradford and Rev. Charles Rector officiating. Pallbearers will be Andy Williams, Allen Nickel, Lee Franklin, Tommy Nickel, Jon McManus, Will Gibbs, Scott Raborn, Thomas Raborn, Marion Ferrell and Bruce Mason. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made Lewis Memorial UMC, 5555 Hereford Farm Road, Evans, GA 30809-7001.
