Augusta, GA –Entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2023, Mr. Jack Brown Mohney, 75, loving husband of Gloria Martin Mohney.
Jack was a 1964 graduate of Richmond Academy, received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from University of Georgia, and master’s degree from Pepperdine University. He served in the United States Marine Corps after enlisting at the age of 17 and was the youngest in his training period. He graduated from Officer Candidate School and Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island. He was stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina as a Radar Officer for Marine Air Corps Station-5. After his service in the Marine Corps he returned to Augusta and started several businesses including Augusta Graphics and Management Recruiters. He served on the Diaconate at Covenant Presbyterian Church, and later was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church of North Augusta. Earlier in life he was also a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church where he became involved in the Boy Scouts and obtained the Eagle Scout Badge. Jack was an avid dog lover, ardent supporter of UGA football, avid outdoorsman who spent the majority of his free time trout fishing in Western North Carolina. He also enjoyed spending time with all 9 of his beloved grandchildren.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his children: Jill Mohney Bowen (Guy), Rhett Addison Mohney (Lyndsey), Ann Mohney Davis (Mark), and Nancye Mohney Peel (Donnie); grandchildren: Hadden and Charlie Peel, Elizabeth, William and Lyla Mohney, Jackson and Ava Davis, Worth and Jack Bowen; siblings: David Mohney (Rhonda) of Columbia, SC, Stanley Mohney (Baudry) of Augusta, Richard Mohney (Cindy) of Columbus, GA, Nancye Mohney Cadle (Joe) of Martinez; many loving nieces and nephews; canine companions: Daisy, Maggie, Rosie, and Max the Cat. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Frances Mohney, and brother, James Mohney.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Allen Thompson officiating.
