Jack Poppell
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, August 4, 2017, Jack C. Poppell, Sr., 83, loving husband of 60 years to Louise M. Poppell.
Mr. Poppell was a graduate of Richmond Academy in 1952 and was voted most popular in his senior year. He was president of the D.E. Club, MVP at Region Basketball Tournament, Captain of the ARC Basketball Team, MVP of the State Baseball Tournament, Caption of ARC Baseball Team, and All-State Second Base. He was on the 1951 and 1952 state championship team at ARC and they went on to win 5 more championships in a row. After signing a baseball scholarship with Indiana University he went on to play with the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Organization in 1954. Mr. Poppell loved ARC and all the great players who played with him.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include sons: Cliff Poppell (Windy) and Kuenn Poppell; daughter: Elaine McFeely (Gregg); and grandchildren: Lindsay Hall (Drew), Matt Poppell, Brooke McFeely and Ryan McFeely.

The funeral service will be Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Warren Baptist Church with Rev. Drew Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Warren Baptist. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Danny LaSure,Sr., Chuck Mason, Kelvin Evans, Roy Alewine, Bob Scaggs, and Benny Cheek.
