Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, August 12, 2010, Mr. John T. “Jack” Eckert, 86, beloved husband of 49 years to Mrs. Rita Eckert of Augusta.
Family members in addition to his wife include son: John T. Eckert of Augusta; daughter: Carol E. Strawn and husband Bob of Fitzgerald, GA; grandson: the late Bryan Strawn; granddaughter: Christy Reach and husband Dylan of Woodstock, GA; and four great grandchildren, Gray, Libby, Cooper, and Caroline Reach; brother: the late Lewis W. Eckert and his wife Mary; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Eckert was raised and educated at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. Following graduation he began his career in the oil industry and retired from Beckham Petroleum Company. He was past President of the Augusta Chapter of the Georgia Council of the Blind. He enjoyed his family, traveling and the outdoors.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Elsie Odom officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
