Grovetown, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, June 3, 2021, Mr. Jackie Morris Sewell, 86.
As a US Army veteran Jackie served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, was a former Armed Services courier for NSA and served 4 years in the US Navy. He retired as a Platoon Sergeant from the U.S. Army after 22 years. Jackie then worked for and retired from Georgia Power, where he was a member of the Response Team. Jackie was also a Columbia County Magistrate, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Georgia Fish Hatchery with the GA DNR. He was a charter member of In Focus Church. In his spare time Jackie enjoyed gardening, growing tomatoes and feeding the animals around his property.
Family members include his former wife, best friend, and mother of his children: Jane Coxe Sewell of Martinez; daughter: Julie Sewell of Bradenton, FL; son: Jeff Sewell (Hope) of Warrenville, SC; grandson: TC Davis (Kasey); great-grandson: Bentley Davis; and canine companions: Boss and Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents: Marshall Sewell and Dorothy McCall Sewell Rodgers; brother: Wayne Sewell and stepfather: Paul Rodgers.
The funeral service will be held Monday, June 7, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at In Focus Church with Pastor Robert Rios officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, SC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
