Jim has entered into rest peacefully early morning on February 17th, 2024 after a battle with cancer.

 

James “Jim” as known to family and friends was born to parents of Sue Ann Edwards and Melvin Lee Busler on July 5th, 1961 and the first born of four siblings and stepbrother to two siblings. Jim was born in North Hollywood, CA and raised in Lancaster, CA.

 

Raised in California his whole life that after high school he decided to join the US Army in April of 1981. He spent his Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  His first duty assignment was to Germany where he met his wife to be in 1981. He married Isabelle “Isa” Moll on September 8th, 1983 in Roskilde, Denmark. He was commissioned as an Officer in 1995 at Fort Benning, GA after spending many years as NCO. While in the military he received his high school diploma, attained an Associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice and was working on a PH.D. 

 

Since 1992 he has been deployed to the Middle East three times serving in operation Desert Storm and his last two in Afghanistan serving as a signal officer in the medical combat battalion. He retired from the US Army in January 2008 serving in the signal corps his whole time in the Army.

 

Upon his retirement from the military, he continued with his service on Fort Eisenhower as a project lead signal cord and retired in January of 2024.

 

Jim loved to work on his cars and watch football particularly college football. He was a lifelong fan of the NFL rams and loved to go to the shooting range. He loved to act and has been in several independent movies. He also was a huge animal lover. 

 

He is survived by his wife Isa of 40years. His children, Robert and Jessica. His grandson Zachery, Sister Laura Busler, Step Sister Michelle Harris, Half Sister Jardine Busler Hodge (Robert) and father Melvin and step mother Sharon and many nephews and nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his half sister Dawn Dekorte (1970), step brother Michael Harris ( 1963-1995), mother Sue Ann Harris (1940-2017) and step father William Harris (1941-2022).

The memorial service will be held Saturday, February 24th, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Steve White officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M., and will have a reception following the service in the garden lobby at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
