James C. “Preacher” Collins
of Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at his residence, James C. Collins, 92.
Preacher was born in Cobbtown, GA in 1929. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years, and a retired welder from Georgia Iron Works. He was a member of St. Luke Anglican Catholic Church and of the George Walton Lodge No. 699, 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. Preacher enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard but most of all fishing and hunting. The thing he loved the best was being in the presence of family and sharing stories.
Family members include his daughter: Jane Hutto (Larry); grandchildren: Tiffany Harwell (John) and Bryan Hutto; great grandchildren: Hunter Harwell (Haley), Dawson Harwell, Savannah Hutto, Carly Wombles, and Scotty Hutto; great-great-grandsons: Finnley Harwell and Brantley Harsey. He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Joe Collins and son: Joey Collins.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 16, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Fr. Daniel Trout officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
