James M. Cook, Sr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, June 17, 2017, Mr. James M. “Honey” Cook, Sr., 87, loving husband to Gene Lee Cook.
Mr. Cook was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He retired from Georgia Iron Works after 19 years and then opened Cook’s Machine Shop. He is a past member of the Eternal Order of Eagles.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: Roscoe C. Cook and wife Donna of Augusta, James R. Cook and wife Brenda of Waynesboro, and James M. Cook, Jr. and wife Jessica of Augusta; daughter: Stacey D. Deas and husband Lee of Appling; stepson: Bryan S. Lee and wife Dana of Seneca, SC; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and brother: Eugene Wing Cook of Augusta. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Addie Hett Cook, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Gene Hollins and Rev. Cleve Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jack “Bubba” O’Tyson, Randy Carter, Richard Carter, Robert “BJ” Rodriguez, Wayne Beazley, and Charles Beazley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Walden, John Wood, Bobby Hood, Alan Herndon, Robert “Sandy” Holliday, Herman Kersey, Garrett Fulcher, and John “Red” Owens.
