James Wilson Dooley

Augusta, GA – Jim Dooley entered into Glory on his birthday, March 9, 2021.

Jim was raised in Nashville, Tennessee where he graduated from Father Ryan High School and worked for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville for 20 years before moving to Augusta in 1990 to join the Alleluia Community. He was the events coordinator for the Alleluia Community office for another 20 years before retiring.

Jim is the beloved husband of 50 years to Jill Dooley. He has been a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Alleluia Community for 31 years. A true family man, he loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He found great joy in sharing Christ with his family and Community members. He enjoyed listening to every sports game on the radio, but most especially the Atlanta Braves.


Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Joshua Dooley (Sarah); daughter: Bonnie Linn (David); grandchildren: Tatiana Linn, Alexander Linn, James Dooley, Mark Dooley, Paul Dooley, Margaret Dooley, Beatrice Dooley, Andrew Dooley; brothers: Robert Dooley (Betty Sue) and twin Jerry Dooley (Ann).
He was proceeded in death by parents Edgar and Bonnie Dooley and elder brothers Edgar (Buddy) Dooley Jr and George Dooley.

The vigil service will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at the Alleluia School Gym.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 10:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mark VanAlstine, celebrant, Fr Thomas Healy and Fr Robert Phillips concelebrants. Interment will follow in Alleluia Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Fr Ted’s Kenyan mission at www.FrTedsKids.org .
