Mr. James E. Kauffmann
Evans, GA – Mr. James E. Kauffmann, 89, entered into rest Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the home of his daughter.
Mr. Kauffmann was a native of the Martinez-Evans area. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and flew B24s and B25s during World War II. Mr. Kauffmann was in Automotive Sales Service. He loved hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was married for 55 years to his first wife, the late Evelyn Kauffmann. In 1998 he returned to Augusta and married Christine Hardy. Mr. Kauffmann was a member of Evans Baptist Church and St. Mark United Methodist Church-
French Bible Class. His loving spirit and concern for family values were best expressed when he would tell the young men in the hunting club “Don’t send your children to church, take them.”
Family members include his wife, Christine “Sis” Hardy Kauffmann; son, James V. Kauffmann (Cassandra) of Eatonton; daughter, Sherron K. Green (Bobby) of Evans; grandchildren: Robyn Dafforn (Ken) of Dublin, OH, Charlaine Biansco (John) of Palm Bay, FL, Lee Green, Jr. (Kristen) of Hawaii, Jon Kauffmann (Deede) of Covington, Kale Kauffmann of Eatonton; great grandchildren: Parker Kauffmann, Cason Kauffmann, Julia Dafforn, Olivia Dafforn, Ashley Biansco, John Biansco III, Ryder Green, Rylee Green, Krystle Hilliard, Shannon Coo; great-great grandchildren: Allison Biansco, Bricen Grindle; and step-children: Tina Slendak (Bo), Bill Hardy (Peggy), and Bob Hardy (Mary Lee). He was predeceased by his parents: Lois Oscar Kauffmann and Clara Leseur Kauffmann; a brother, Frank Leseur Kauffmann; and his first wife of 55 years, Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Broome and Dr. Kevin Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jon Kauffmann, Kale Kauffmann, Scott Fay, Bo Slendak, Bill Hardy, and Bob Hardy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Warthen Hunt Club members and French Bible Class members.
