James Gemell Scoggins, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Mr. James Gemell Scoggins, Sr., entered into rest Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Lake Crossing Nursing Home.
Mr. Scoggins was a native of McDuffie County but lived most of his life in Columbia County. He retired from TRW in 1986 as a machine operator. Mr. Scoggins served in the United States Navy during World War II for seven years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, Georgia Football and deer hunting.
He was married to the late Grace Morris Scoggins for 34 years and together had two children: daughter: Catherine (Kitty) Hall and husband Charles of Augusta, son: James (Mickey) Scoggins, Jr., and wife Carol of Martinez and four grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren two sisters, Mary Maxe and Myrtie Conner.
After the passing of his first wife Mr. Scoggins married the late Mary Brady Scoggins. Her two children include: daughter: Glennis Blevins and late husband Earl of Modoc, SC. son: David McCaslan and wife Carolyn of Augusta, two surviving grandchildren, three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Funeral services to be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Donnie Crosswhite officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
