Mr. James “Jim” M. Davies
Martinez, GA – Entered into rest April 26, 2013 in his home, Mr. James “Jim” M. Davies, 70, husband of Sharon Rains Davies for forty-two years.
Mr. Davies was born in Rochester, NY in 1943. In 1965, he enrolled at Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, IN, following his graduation from Hanover College in Hanover, IN. He was drafted in to the United States Army that same year and served in Vietnam in 1968. Mr. Davies was awarded with two Bronze Stars. After completing his military service, Mr. Davies re-enrolled at Indiana University School of Business in 1969. He was accepted as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1971. He served the F.B.I. in Cleveland, OH, Savannah, GA, Waycross, GA, and was finally transferred to the Augusta office in 1978. Retiring from the F.B.I. in 2000, he began working for the Background Investigative Contract Services for the F.B.I. from 2001 until 2011. He was an avid University of Georgia sports fan since 1978 and enjoyed playing golf. He played the Augusta National numerous times and even broke 90 once.
In addition to his wife, family members include brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Royce and Joyce Rains of Dayton, OH and neice: Rhonda Skare and husband Garrett of Dayton, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ila Davies.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Edward Rees IV officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour following the service.
