Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, September 4, 2013, Mr. James Leroy Utley, 86, loving husband of 22 years to Elsie M. Utley of Augusta.
Mr. Utley was born and raised in Ellenton, SC but lived in Jackson, SC for a large portion of his life. He was a veteran of WWII, having proudly served in the Merchant Marines and the US Army. Also, he was a masonry contractor.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Debra K. Utley of Jackson, SC, Carole U. Baxter and husband Larry of Charleston, SC; stepdaughter: Linda West and husband James of Evans, GA; stepson: David Hayslip of Augusta, GA; 6 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Jackson Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Greg Bentley officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
